UCSHIP is a systemwide plan providing enhanced health benefits to all enrolled students. All registered students are automatically enrolled in UCSHIP, but if you have comparable insurance and you do not want to keep UCSHIP as dual coverage, you must submit a request to waive enrollment by the specified deadline.

UCSHIP Health Fee

• The UC SHIP Health Fee is a registration fee and cannot be removed from your BruinBill.
• If registration fees are not paid by the fee payment deadline, classes are dropped and late payment fees are applied.
• Students that do not receive an approved waiver application by the listed deadline date will be enrolled in UC SHIP and are financially responsible for the UC SHIP Health Registration Fee on their BruinBill for the term. Additional opportunities to Waive UC SHIP are available during subsequent terms.

• View And Use Your Anthem Digital ID Card: You’ll always have your most current Anthem ID card handy. And you can use it just like a paper one when you visit the doctor or dentist, pay for care, and more.
• Use The Chat To Find Answers To Your Questions: Just type your questions in the app and receive the answers you’re looking for. Plus, Anthem’s Sydney app can suggest resources to help you understand your benefits, improve your health, and save money.

UCSHIP Coverage

The Ashe Center for Primary Care Services

The Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center (The Ashe Center) serves as every UCSHIP student’s medical home. Students who are primarily enrolled in UCSHIP are required to receive all Primary Care Services at The Ashe Center. The Ashe Center comprehensive services include primary care, women’s health, specialty care, travel medicine, radiology, laboratory, immunizations, physical therapy and acupuncture.

CAPS for Mental Health Services

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is a student mental health center for the UCLA campus. CAPs offers a variety of services to meet your needs including Individual counseling, Group therapy, Crisis counseling and campus mental health and wellness promotion. UCSHIP provides 8 therapy sessions with CAPS and unlimited therapy sessions with In-Network (Anthem Blue Cross) Provider to meet students’ needs.

Pharmacy Coverage

You can fill prescriptions at any pharmacy, but you’ll pay less when you use The Ashe Center or an OptumRx network pharmacy. Not all prescription drugs are covered by UC SHIP. For details, visit the ucop.edu/ucship > My Dental Coverage.
