List of Majors and Minors: https://admission.ucla.edu/apply/majors
- Don’t be afraid to try out different classes to find out which major you want to pursue. 4 years is more than enough time to finish major requirements
- Talk to seniors about the pros and cons of taking different majors and minors in UCLA
- It is possible to switch between schools within UCLA, take a look at each school’s requirements and plan because it may take 2-3 quarters’ worth of classes

- Plan your classes ahead and show your counsellor(s) the plan to ensure you do not miss any classes
- Use Schedule of Classes to determine which quarter(s) each class is offered in. Note that some classes may be offered once a year, so do not miss it!
- Use Bruinwalk to determine which professors are good for each class
- I would recommended that you take more classes while you are taking lower divs
- When classes get harder, you take fewer of them per quarter
- You’ll also have better enrollment time for upper divs by racking up units
- Continuously update your class plan depending on your schedule and your capacity. Remember your health & mental health > academics!
- Check with your department counsellor to see which classes you can P/N
Enrollment
- Always use first pass on in-demand classes (Classes offered fewer times a year, with good professors, with fewer spots)
- Have backups because sometimes the classes you want to take might run out of spots
- Email professors for PTE as last resort if you really need to take the class that quarter
- Fiat-Lux are created for freshmen to explore their interests. They are easy P/NP 1 unit classes of interesting topics in different departments.
Textbooks
- Confirm with the professors whether the physical copies are required and which edition
